"This article explores the challenges faced by trade unions in Serbia as the coun try navigates its transition to a low-carbon economy. Serbia's energy sector relies primarily on coal, which significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. As the country aims for cleaner energy, the transition poses environmental and economic challenges, including potential job losses in coal-dependent regions. Trade unions are playing a crucial role in advocating workers' rights during this shift, emphasising equitable opportunities through social dialogue and collective bargaining. This research study examines the evolving role of trade unions in Serbia in addressing environmental issues and the necessary strategies for sup porting workers in affected sectors. It highlights the importance of collective bargaining and social dialogue to ensure equitable outcomes amidst the econo mic transformations and environmental challenges that lie ahead. Ultimately, the findings call for coordinated efforts involving government, trade unions and civil society to facilitate a sustainable and inclusive transition for all stakeholders."
