"Hundreds of thousands die at work each year, many as a result of clear negligence and cost-cutting on the part of their employer. Anyone convicted of manslaughter can expect to face vigorous prosecution and the probability of a stiff prison sentence when the crime is committed outside the workplace, but behind the factory doors, employers can almost always kill with impunity. Unions worldwide are now calling for corporate accountability to extend to workplace safety crimes and for the incarceration of the most dangerous offenders."
