Three successful case studies are reviewed and the factors for success identified as national union support, rank-and-file mobilization, coalition building, and a range of innovative and flexible tactics adapted to particular industry, labor market and workforce characteristics. The article concludes with a discussion of the chances for disseminating such practices and possible lesson for European unions. "
