"The act represents an important and ambitious contribution by Germany to further human rights and environmental protection towards reaching sustainable development goals. Large companies are subject to due diligence duties in their global supply chains to avoid violations of human rights and environmental violations. Considerable governmental competencies support the effective implementation of the act. BAFA audits company reports, investigates violations and is authorized to impose administrative fines which include exclusion from public procurement."
