"This paper explains how and why entrepreneurship has emerged as a key component of economic policy to enhance the economic growth performance. Understanding the linkages between entrepreneurship and economic growth requires drawing upon four disparate literatures: international trade and growth, innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic geography. Integrating the key insights from these literatures provides a framework highlighting the important role played by entrepreneurship in economic policy knowledge to enhance the economic growth performance, particularly at the local and regional levels."
