"The overall goal of this project is to begin to develop multidisciplinary research that explores the ethical, legal, social, and economic implications of advances in human genetics and molecular technology for occupational health. Genetic testing could potentially be used in occupational settings for many purposes, including: (1) informing workers about their susceptibilities to occupational exposures; (2) selecting, reassigning, or screening out workers based on susceptibilities to occupational diseases; (3) selecting, reassigning, or screening out workers based on susceptibilities to non-occupational diseases; (4) identifying workplace hazards related to susceptibilities that should be abated; and (5) diagnosing diseases in workers."
