"In 2001 the UK had the eleventh lowest strike rate of the 23 countries that supplied data in the OECD – the same ranking as in 2000. The OECD average strike rate of 29 days in 2001 and the lowest figure since records began. The UK strike rate has been below both the EU and the OECD averages since 1992, with the exception of 1996.This article continues a regular series on international labour disputes and presents data on labour disputes in member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) between 1992 and 2001. Comparisons are made of overall strike rates between countries as well as strike rates by industry. The article also describes the differences in definitions and coverage of the statistics between countries and how they affect comparability."
