Individual dismissal law and the financial crisis: an evaluation of recent developments
"This article offers an evaluation of recent developments in the individual dismissal laws of certain Southern European states (Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain), with special regard to the reforms adopted in response to the economic crisis. The paper first highlights the influence of the European Commission on national dismissal laws. It then focuses on four selected major changes in national individual dismissal laws, which have been suggested by the Troika. The reforms of dismissal law are assessed – within the limited scope of the present article – from both an economic and a fundamental rights perspective. Finally, in the summary the general findings of the paper are presented."
