"Platform workers are denied access to employment and social rights because of their classification as independent contractors. It is therefore not surprising that working conditions in the platform economy have attracted a great deal of attention. Labour courts and tribunals are increasingly reclassifying platform workers as employees. However, there is still a lot of uncertainty regarding their employment status, which is now addressed by the Commission's proposal for a directive aimed at improving working conditions in platform work. This article aims to analyse the solution offered by the Commission in dealing with the correct classification of work relations."
