"The essay reproduces, with adjustments, the final speech presented to a meeting devoted to "The idea of labour law, today". It deals with a succinct evolution of labour law literature and legislation. Particularly, the author questions where the no return point is, between the widespread regressive tendencies of the protective function of labour law and the constitutional fundamental rights. Eventually the need of a cultural autonomy of labour law studies is stressed in order to free them from the cultural subjection to the dominant economic thought."
