"This Approved Code of Practice and guide is aimed at employers, managers and other dutyholders for health and safety, including self-employed people. It explains their duties under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, which requires them to assess the risks posed to workers and any others who may be affected by their work or business. It focuses on risk assessments and how to use them effectively to identify potential hazards and risks, preventive measures that can be applied and the management and surveillance of health and safety and procedures that should be followed in the event of serious or imminent danger. There is also information for employees and guidance about health and safety responsibilities for temporary workers, expectant mothers and young people."
