"This article will consider the role of EU social rights in the the referendum campaign, what will become of social rights in the post Brexit world in the light of the EU (Withdrawal) Bill and the commitment to no-regression of social rights and what the EU might require in the event of a future trade deal. It will argue that while the future may look somewhat bleak for the maintenance of EU social rights, the imminent catastrophe that some fear will not happen. Instead there is a risk of stagnation of existing employment rights and a gradual erosion of the protection employees currently enjoy, especially if there is no robust requirement on the UK to continue to respect EU employment law rules"
