This study involving 220 workers exposed to silica in a Chinese refractory plant, evaluated radiographic findings of silicosis and emphysematous changes. The results suggest that emphysema associated with silicosis is likely to be responsible for pulmonary obstruction and decreased diffusing capacity among these workers.
