"On the initiative of the European Commission, an impact assessment on the results of the biomedical and health research programme Biomed2 (1994-98) has been performed by a programme review board consisting of 12 international experts from different (bio)medical disciplines. Their legal mandate was to identify and assess the programme's impact on the research communities involved and on the users and potential beneficiaries of the research, as well as to assess the European added value of the programme and to suggest lessons to be learned for future programmes."
