"In acceding membership in the European Union, Malta has embarked in the implementation of an array of regulations in line with the requirements of the Acquis Communautaire. One such area relates to the full freedom of movement of workers, requiring measures that ascertain the protection of workers at any workplace. In this regard, Malta initiated with the implementation of regulatory framework that parallels the requirements set out within the European law structure. Such changes were initiated in 1994, gaining inertia as more detailed enabling legal notices are implemented. A comprehensive array of legal notices supporting the two major acts of occupational health and safety are envisaged to be enforced by the end of 2005."
