"June Fisher was in charge of the medical clinic for San Francisco transit operators that started in 1978. Using a collaborative approach, she and her colleagues turned doing physical exams into participatory action research about the stressors facing bus drivers. In the process, the union members learned much about health and safety and research on these issues."
