Not so the Dutch Presidency, which has taken a stance firmly on the right of the political stage in Community occupational health debates. Its choice may well be prompted by domestic politics. The Balkenende II government's policy stall set out in spring 2004 was an all-out assault on labour. The results are a matter of record: autumn 2004 was marked by mass demonstrations and rashes of strikes not normally seen in the country. ..."
