" In Hungary, the social security system and the whole system of social protection has been exposed to considerable changes in recent years, which can be accounted for by several political and socio-economic reasons. Since the change in the socio-economic system of the country took place, the role of the state has been gradually diminishing. The long-lasting economic crisis has triggered the pressing need to introduce changes in both the structure and finances of social security services. Some negative social and demographic conditions have also had a considerable impact on the re-shaping of the system. » Based on this introduction the author analyses the current situation of the Hungarian social protection system and tis perspectives for future development."
