"This Best Practice Guide on Chemical Data Sharing Between Companies offers practical solutions to one of the key challenges in chemicals management for companies: how to share health, safety and environmental data in ways that are fair, transparent and efficient. As more countries introduce chemical regulations, the ability to exchange reliable data across borders and between companies is essential to protect human health and the environment while avoiding unnecessary duplication of studies, especially those involving animals. Yet data-sharing often raises questions of ownership, cost and consistency. Building on the Best Practice Guide and the OECD Recommendation of the Council Concerning Access and Protection of Proprietary Rights to Non-Clinical Health, Safety and Environmental Data and Information on Chemicals, this report sets out clear scenarios and recommendations to improve access, ensure fair compensation and support cooperation between companies. By promoting consistent practices, it aims to reduce administrative burdens, enhance regulatory harmonisation and strengthen trust among stakeholders."
