"The TUV Saarland Foundation for Technical Safety has succeeded in winning more than 80 top level experts for a world congress with the goal to define the state of the art and to show new developments in Technical Safety in the five important sections of technology:
- Energy (mining, electricity and heat generation, waste treatment)
- Transportation (earth-bound, air, sea)
- Production (chemical/mechanical processes, automation)
- ICT (information and communication technology)
- Medical, biological and genetic technologies
In recognition of the fact that the "Safety of modern technical systems" depends on the successful interdisciplinary co-operation of experts, safety issues out of the above mentioned fields of technology will be treated from five different academic points of view:
- Engineering and natural sciences
- Medicine/Psychology/Sociology
- Philosophy/Theology
- Legal Aspects
- Business Administration/Management
The results of the congress will be given to the public as a "Saarbruecken Declaration onTechnical Safety". The world congress "Safety of modern technical systems" will be useful to all persons:
- working in relevant academic disciplines
- responsible for legislation or administrative enforcement of technical safety
- with management responsibilities for technical safety in private industry or in the public sector
- in printed or electronic media aiming at qualified public information on safety issues."
