"This publication presents the results of an expert forecast on emerging physical OSH risks based on a Delphi survey. The risks identified in the expert survey are related to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), noise, vibration, thermal risks, risks related to ionising and non-ionising radiation, to machinery, work processes and technologies, as well as various ergonomic risks. A literature review explores in more depth the context and the health outcomes of five of the main emerging risks singled out in the forecast."

"Corporations operating U.S. nuclear weapons plants for the federal government began tracking occupational exposures to ionizing radiation in 1943. However, workers, scholars, and policy makers have questioned the accuracy and completeness of radiation monitoring and its capacity to provide a basis for workers' compensation. We use interviews to explore the limitations of broad-scale, corporate epidemiological surveillance through worker accounts from the Savannah River Site nuclear weapons plant. Interviewees report inadequate monitoring, overbearing surveillance, limited venues to access medical support and exposure records, and administrative failure to report radiation and other exposures at the plant. The alienation of workers from their records and toil is relevant to worker compensation programs and the accuracy of radiation dose measurements used in epidemiologic studies of occupational radiation exposures at the Savannah River Site and other weapons plants."

A first of its kind review, the report uncovers more than 20 occupations associated with considerably increased risk of breast cancer compared to the risk for the general population, including nurses, teachers, first responders and more. We are confident that there is a better way forward, and that a cancer-free economy is within our grasp. The report offers recommendations for research and policies that prioritize workers' health over industry profit or political gains."

"This guide is aimed at employers, trade union representatives and, of course, workers potentially exposed to electromagnetic fields. It is also designed as an aid to understanding the new EU Directive on occupational exposure to EMFs (2013/35 EU), which will enter into force in 2016. The Guide presents an overview of occupational exposure to electromagnetic field according to frequency: static fields, low, intermediate and radio frequencies. It focuses on certain occupations, on risk assessment and on the determination of exposure, which needs to be done according to the general provisions of EU Directive OSH “Framework Directive” 89/391/EEC. A specific chapter is dedicated to workers who face particular risks, e.g., persons with medical implants, pregnant women or persons taking certain medications. Last but no least, the guide also presents recommendations as to how a precautionary approach can help to reduce high exposure."

La liste des supports proposée correspond à une sélection faite par les auteurs : cette liste ne peut donc en aucun cas être considérée comme exhaustive.
