"Capitalist society in its progression stage has created a pronounced contradiction. On the one side, productive forces and technology have been developed towards a more humane social stage while, on the other, surplus value has come to belong exclusively to the private owners of capital. This has led to class stratification and moral dilemmas. The consequences of these contradictions lie in various forms ofalienation, as well as in the positions and outcomes of labour and labour struggle. The materialisation of this process is verified in the form of giant corporations and is conditioned by social development (industrial revolution and internationalisation processes). The effects of such social, economic and technological development have led to a deepening of the global class structure and to social reification, expressed in three classes: workers; managers; and capital owners. Constellations of divisions are based on the role that individuals actually adopt in certain economic relationships and social life, and their position in the realm of productive forces."

"Capitalism as a system began after departing from feudal structures after the middle of the 16th century. It has now passed through three phases: commercial capitalism; industrial capitalism; and corporate or transnational capitalism. The process of worker alienation began in the phase of industrialisation and has led to complete commodification and to the abstraction of human beings, not only from others but also from self. On the capital side, a certain degree of alienation is also taking place in terms of its roles and way of use. This is leading to the opening up of new forms of ethical and moral norms, as well as a setting of new values, made manifest through various forms of reform of social systems. It is possible to observe work as an engine of productive relations, not only in terms of productivity but also in terms of its ethical and moral principles. Current events point to the problem of finding a permanent solution in the form of a new ethical doctrine which has for its goal a review of the objective scope and historical restrictions of capitalist methods of production. "

"Covid-19 has had a significant effect on labour market metrics across the globe. This article aims to contribute to the understanding of the pandemic's adverseimpact on labour markets in the western Balkans and the need to take appropri-ate measures to mitigate this effectively in the forthcoming period. Using aspread of data, we analyse and compare the distributional impacts of the pan-demic recession in western Balkans labour markets in terms of the unemploy-ment rate and the average annual growth in real minimum wages. Our analysisshows a significant deterioration of labour market trends – not least in compari-son with the picture of 2019 which was broadly much more positive – which hasled to increased government spending on social protection measures. This needsto be continued, not least as regards vulnerable individuals, including young peo-ple, as the pandemic continues its track. On the basis of our results, and to dealwith the structural challenges presented by Balkans labour markets, there is aneed for further reform and updating of regulation, social protection and policiesin the labour market"
